Robot-making process [10] head

[Robot Making 10]

Finally, the head. A head is one of the most important parts of a humanoid in that it affects the impression when people first see the robot. Besides, when it comes to a work of art, it can also stand for the theme of the work.

First, the upper head, of which aluminium plane figure is already bent as shown below

Then, the lower head, also complete

Now, we need a plane figure that is cut out along the front outline of the lower head.

Then, attach the three pieces into one by metal epoxy adhesives.

And, combine the head to the robot body.

Before we make the face, we need a back cover unit that fixes the head to the body and protect the robot controller. The aluminium figures of it are as below.

First, bend the support part of the unit and make a hole that Li-poly battery lines can go through.

Now, the cover part. Make the projected parts rolled inside so that a steel wire(use a paper clip) can be set in.

Then, connect the cover to the other part, and you will get a hinged back cover unit.

Fix the unit to the robot body with epoxy adhesives to the lower head and bolts to the back.

At last, cut out a 0.2mm aluminium plane round as below to make a robot face.

Shape it round to be a human face.

Finally, attach the face to the head, then the robot will be complete.

Now the robot making process ends. However, a more elaborate process to make it a work of art will start from now on.
